Hey future Panthers!!  I just wanted to take a quick minute to tell you guys how excited I am for all of you! I know you hear everywhere that college is the “best years of your life,” and right now you may be more overwhelmed and nervous about all the unknowns of college that it may seem more nerve racking than enjoyable.  Don't stress!  Everyone has been in your shoes, myself included!  I was a freshman in what seems like just a couple days ago! When I first came to UNI I was worried that I would have no idea what activities were going on or where they were taking place. Right when I checked into Campbell Hall freshman year they provided me with a list of a whole bunch of Welcome Week Activities. Some of the activities included a picnic, a magic show, checking out the shops on Main Street, and a hypnotist show.  Going to these activities the first weekend with the girls that lived in my house allowed me to get to know them better and start to form friendships.

Throughout the entire year I grew closer to the girls that I went to the Welcome Week Activities with. We went to football games, Beauty and the Beast Broadway production at Gallagher Blue-Dorn, dance parties, had sleepovers, watched tons of movies, had nerf gun wars at our friend’s house - and that is just to name a few activities.

Looking back there were things that I came across in college that were stressful such as registering for classes, taking my first college level test, doing my first load of laundry. However, I could not have made it through college if it weren’t for friends that I made and the activities that I got involved in for fun my freshman year. I am blessed to call the girls I met my freshman year my best friends going into my senior year of college, and excitedly this will happen to you too!! You never know were you will run into your next best friend it could be in class, at the dining center, or sitting in the computer lab. College is more than just being successful in your classes it’s about learning about yourself and meeting people that make you into a better person.

Good luck with your first year at UNI and I can't wait to see you all on campus!!
